being a record of events, both mundane and extraordinary, in the lives of Justin & Catalin, a generally cautious pair who, with unsettling regularity, throw caution to the wind and set out in new directions....
Solar Cooker. I've just about finished making it (need to blacken the bottom inside piece; am thinking of just using a piece of black cloth since I'm not sure about the availability of nontoxic paint). Looks pretty good, huh?
In the past I have used a metal bottom pan(made from flashing painted black)and raised the pot on something. This time I've even made some attractive spiral cardboard trivets, but am not sure about getting flashing. I don't have any tools to cut or bend it. I made a foiled cardboard "pan" which I will paint black if I find nontoxic paint. However, I was thinking of putting a piece of black cloth in the bottom (on the foiled "pan") instead/meanwhile.
Do you have any experience with using cloth? In Chico, I sometimes put a piece of black cloth around a clear glass jar, but I wasn't sure that it was really helping. What do you think?
well done miss....as usual!
