More House Photos

It looks like we will close in one week, but the sellers will not be able to move out until Mar 8. To celebrate feeling like it's really all going to work out, I thought I'd post a few more pictures from when we were there doing the inspections.
If anyone recognizes what the pink-flowered tree is, please let me know.

What's the hole in the hallway? (In front of the bathroom???) What's it called, and what's its purpose, I wonder?

Maggie,
That's a heat register. Hot air comes out of the floor there to heat the house. Not an especially efficient way to heat a house, but pretty common in California, especially in older houses. Funny for me to realize that those aren't universal!

P--Yes, we love the stove and hope they leave. I didn't realize rhododendrons could get that big. It is pruned as a tree and is much taller than me.

Fantastic range. Is that a jar of bacon fat I see on the top?! Tea? It also looks like honey, but that's an unlikely storage spot. I'll go with the pork.
Good luck with the house!!! eric

Eric: Bacon fat seems completely possible. That's a griddle there in the middle and it has one of those little pull-out trays to catch the grease. However, it wouldn't be a bad place to keep the honey, either, if you wanted it to stay soft and warm, as there's probably a pilot light under the griddle.

We're really hoping they leave the range (we asked for it in the contract), but we're not going to have a hissy fit if they don't. There have been enough hissy-fits in this transation already.

We sign loan documents tomorrow!

My grandparents house had one of the floor heat registers. That's where everybody got dressed in the morning. Fond memories. cap
