SOLOMONS MUSICIANS PILFER WATER PIPES
HONIARA, Solomon Islands (SIBC, Jan. 16) – The Solomon Islands Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Program is calling on all local bands using water supply pipes to immediately stop the habit.
The program issued the warning following the constant presence of PVC pipes with local panpipe bands entertaining in various locations in Honiara and in the villages.
Program Manager Bobby Patterson says it is illegal to cut or remove water supply pipes for musical instruments.
He says any community allowing its youths to use water supply pipes will not be assisted in the future.
Mr Patterson says any panpipe group seen in Honiara using water supply pipes as musical instruments will be questioned.
He says the practice of using water supply pipes for musical instrument had gone out of hand and the program is taking the action to make sure water supply pipes are used solely for water supply purposes.
